Can boys dance at EDA?

EDA encourage boys to learn the art of dance. We have over the years enjoyed watching young boys grow into talented young men who's dance skills are of a professional standard.

Hip Hop is particularly popular with the boys, however we have boys who also perform in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and more.

How do I do hair and make-up for a performance?

Hair and make-up workshops are available throughout the year. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page and emails for when these workshops are on.

What are the benefits to competing a Dance Exam?

Exams are an opportunity for your child to develop confidence, self–worth, self–esteem as well as perfect their dance technique.

Achieving in exams can lead to a teaching role, greater acknowledgement within the industry and a career in Dance.

What is an Eisteddfod?

EDA offer 'Troupe'. Our Troupe group perform at Eisteddfod's. Eisteddfods are a championship event where many different academy's from around the state and interstate, showcase their best routines in the disciplines of Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz and more.

Do classes run in the school holidays?

EDA take a break in the School Holidays. Keep in mind that EDA follow the NSW School Holiday system. On some occasions, particularly close to an up coming performance, it may be requested that extra dance classes are required to help your child's dance group polish routines. If this is the case you will be notified before hand with day and time.

What age can my child start dancing and is there an age limit at EDA?

Here at EDA, students can begin their education in dance at the age of 2 with our Imagine – A Place to be Me classes. Students can continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of dance at the age of 4 when we offer students the opportunity to participate in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Classes including Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop are available for students from age 5 and up. Contemporary and Conditioning classes can be introduced at the age of 10.

What disciplines of dance are offered at EDA?

EDA offer a range of disciplines from Classical Ballet and Contemporary to Hip Hop, Tap and more. If you're unsure what best suits your child, you may wish to have a trail class to help decide. Talk to our Principle, Kathryne about what options are available and how you can join a class for a trial run.

When will my child have the opportunity to perform?

EDA hold an annual concert at the end of the year, where every child will perform in their chosen discipline. There are three concert performances held over two days. All information about the concert and concert dates can be found on this website.
